I am Dr Marisa Borenstein, currently working in the Ultrasound and Prenatal Diagnosis Unit at Gutenberg Center in Málaga, Spain. My post is as consultant in Fetal Medicine, in a Unit with lots of team work, academic activities as well as assistance duties. The clinic works with 3D Ultrasound since 2004 as one of the first in Spain, with great experience at the moment. I have been working there since 2009 as a full time job.
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I studied medical school and the Obs and Gyne training. Afterwards I moved to London, UK to do the fellowship in Fetal Medicine at King´s College London with Professor Kypros Nicolaides. The fellowship lasted for 3 years and I obtained the Diploma in Fetal Medicine by the Fetal Medicine Foundation, London, UK (including cardiac assessment and invasive procedures). During those years I passed the GMC exams to convalidate my medical degree from Argentina to the British (year 2008). And I also hold the Medical degree from Spain (year 2006) and Obs and Gyne degree (year 2008).
I have published many articles in recognized international Journals, with main interest in first trimester of pregnancy, 3D ultrasound and fetal brain anomalies. I have also been involved in writing and editing many chapters for books on different subjects.
In Gutenberg Clinic we give 4-5 Courses per year on 3D/4D Ultrasound in Obs and Gyne since 2009. I am co-director of these Courses with Guillermo Azumendi. And we also organize an International Symposium of Fetal Medicine every 2 years, starting on 2007 with many international and national (Spanish) speakers.
