Danka Mirić Tešanić, MD, Ph.D.
Specialist of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Works at Poliklinika GynaeArs – Private Practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology and serves as its chief.
Born in Zagreb where she completed her elementary and high school education and studied medicine at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, graduating in 1990. As a student she had already participated at student congresses of medicine and dental medicine with oral presentations. Underwent a one month student traineeship at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Royal Liverpool Hospital, Liverpool, as part of a student exchange program.
Finished a postgraduate study of Medical genetics and obtained a Master of Science degree in 1996.
Achieved a PhD degree in 2007.
Has been appointed as a research associate at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, since 2013.
She obtained an education in ultrasound technology, specifically in 3D/4D sonography, under mentorship of prof. Eberhard Merz at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Mainz, where she spent several years and wrote her Master of Science thesis, as well as starting her PhD thesis.
She expanded her knowledge by obtaining an education in medical genetics and cytogenetics at the University of Münster, and molecular genetics at the Ludwig-Maximillian University in München. At the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Bonn she obtained practical training in fetal echocardiography.
Along with her colleagues from Mainz, she received an award from the German Society of Ultrasound in Medicine for the paper: „Application of transvaginal and abdominal three-dimensional ultrasound for the detection or exclusion of malformations of the fetal face“ (authors: E. Merz, G. Weber, F. Bahlmann, D. Mirić-Tešanić).
She has translated the book “3-D Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology” (Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins, 1999.) by prof. Eberhard Merz into Croatian. The translated book titled “3D ultrazvuk u ginekologiji i porodništvu” was published in 1999. (Naprijed, Zagreb). She is also one of the co-authors of this book.
She has been an invited speaker at national and international congresses and symposia, as well as an author and co-author of scientific papers and case reports published in prestigious international sonographic medical journals. She is also an author and co-author of several chapters published in national and international medical books and a peer reviewer for international journal papers.
She is a member of DEGUM (German Society of Ultrasound in Medicine) and is certified with the degree – Stufe II. She has been certified by the Fetal Medicine Foundation Germany (FMF-Germany) since 2013.
